JOB GOAL: This position is responsible for design, implementation and management of system implementation, administration, management, upgrades, backup, recovery, security / risk assessments and support of network, server and storage systems.
The Infrastructure Engineer will adhere to prescribed industry guidelines and standards for a secure data network and systems.
Bachelors or Associate’s Degree, or equivalent experience, preferably in Computer Science or Information Systems.
3-5 years’ experience in Information Technology Systems to include design, management installation, configuration, troubleshooting, monitoring, and maintenance of various IT systems and devices.
Ability to develop and present demonstration material to groups and individuals.
Ability to interact with individuals at all levels of the organization.
Ability to document server changes and follow established change control.
Ability to advance a culture of equity, diversity, and inclusion
Team player which can effectively manage multiple priorities and negotiate deadlines.
Comprehensive understanding of technology systems required to support service department operations
Ability to establish effective working relationships with District staff and contractors
Knowledge of state and federal laws and compliance
Other qualifications to the above that the Board may find acceptable and appropriate
Demonstrated in-depth knowledge of Microsoft Windows operating systems and hardware.
Demonstrated in-depth knowledge of Microsoft and VMware server technologies.
Demonstrated in-depth knowledge of network-based applications, remote management software, imaging solutions, and help desk systems.
Demonstrated in-depth knowledge of security best practices as related to server infrastructure.
Strong knowledge of local and wide area network architecture; Experience with Cisco equipment and basic network design practices preferred.
Microsoft Certified Systems Expert certification or equivalent experience supporting Microsoft systems.
Excellent organizational, project planning, and interpersonal communication skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Must have the ability to relay technical information in business terms. Must be able to work effectively with VAR’s, vendors, associates, and management.
Technical aptitude for computer equipment, especially relating to networks, servers, user devices, personal computing devices, and Macintosh and Windows Operating Systems.
Assist with identifying, interpreting, and evaluating system, network and security requirements; searching technical alternatives and analyzing technical options; and developing project plans.
Assist with reviewing design; preparing integration plans for new processes, protocols and equipment; recommending selection of architecture, topology, hardware and software; preparing capacity and throughput plans; specifying servers and supporting hardware and integrating network components.
Responsible for installing, configuring, monitoring, maintaining, upgrading, troubleshooting, etc. various network hardware, software and associated components as related to the day-to-day operation of the district’s network.
Responsible to monitor network use with regard to capacity, reliability, performance and security. Also recommends to the “Management Team” any corrective action as needed.
Develop maintenance and upgrade plans; coordinate maintenance; apply maintenance upgrades, security enhancements and process changes; perform systems backups and restore data; troubleshoot and maintain client, server and network systems; develop and recommend growth and capacity plans;
Assist with the creation and execution of technical bids and service contracts.
Provide timely recommendations to improve technical services.
Lead enterprise technical initiatives and projects according to specified budgets, timelines, and expectations.
Provide on-site and remote technical support; provide emergency on-call support for on-site and remote technical issues as needed.
Follow IT Security best practices and implement as necessary to provide a secure environment.
Serve as a primary point of contact for vendor relationships.
Manage multiple systems projects and initiatives and have overall responsibility for on-time delivery, meeting budget targets and meeting objectives.
Perform day-to-day administration on all systems as required.
Document and implement system configuration; support, track and document change implementation and implement deployment;
Documents and manages disaster recovery and backup plan for the district.
Provide meaningful statistics and utilization of network resources to the senior management on a regular basis.
Participate in departmental budgeting and long and short-range strategic planning initiatives.
Provide level three technical support for the Helpdesk and SDoL staff.
Attend classes, seminars, conferences and review professional literature to enhance knowledge of trends and developments related to network systems.
Configure workstation images and printers.
Educate other technology staff in systems and network concepts.
Other duties as assigned by the Director of Technology.
