How to Get the Most out of Virtual Conferences

On October 27, PSCI will be a vendor at the 11th annual Secure Delaware 2020 Cybersecurity Workshop. The aim of the conference is to provide cybersecurity training for Delaware's citizens, business employees, students, and government employees. This year, the event will be taking place exclusively online. So, before attending (something we strongly urge), be sure to check out our latest blog post which provides tips for how to get the most out of virtual events. Read the blog>>.

Pursuing a Career in Cybersecurity
October may be cybersecurity month, but there's no wrong time to learn more about the discipline - especially if you're considering a career in the field. This blog post examines the type of education and background needed for a career in cybersecurity and lists five cybersecurity certifications worth pursuing. Read the blog>>.

Chris Cantler
This month we shine the spotlight on Chris Cantler! Back for his second stint with PSCI, Chris works as a Project Manager for the State of Delaware where he is responsible for managing multiple concurrent projects for various state agencies.

Let's take a moment to learn more about him in this month's Fast Five.
1. Years and projects worked on at PSCI?
In total, I've only worked for PSCI for 1 year, 4 months. In 2014 I led and supported a re-hosting project for DTI transitioning a suite of e-government applications from a vendor to state hosted environment. Recently, in April of this year I rejoined to support an almost impossible task of delivering a new professional licensing platform for DE's DOS. This last project was delivered on-time and was the best delivery of my far.
2. What was your first paying job?
In my teen years, I worked for neighbors mowing lawns and cleaning gutters. But my first real W2 job was working the grill at Roy Rogers while going to community college near my home.
3. What was your favorite TV show when growing up?
Difficult to name just one so I will list out a few. Before school was The Three Stooges; after school was Captain Chesapeake and Tom and Jerry. My primetime was Happy Days, M*A*S*H and Cheers... remember those?

4. What would people be surprised to learn about you?
I collect vintage motorcycles, so my big winter project is to restore a 1978 KZ1000 and turn it into a bada$$ed cafe racer.
5. What separates PSCI from other consulting firms you've worked with?
I've been consulting for 17 years and have worked with a number of primary consulting firms. PSCI stands apart because they are a company that cares about the client and delivers excellence.

In case you missed them, check out these recent top reads from publications across the industry.

Hitting the Links

Earlier this month, PSCI proudly sponsored the 27th annual Chamber Chase Golf Tournament hosted by the Delaware State Chamber of Commerce and played at King's Creek Country Club in Rehoboth Beach.

In order to be played, this year's outing had to call a few audibles. Pairings were given tee times as opposed to the typical shotgun start, boxed lunches took the place of the networking lunch, and hand sanitizer was added to every golf cart. We, though, were just happy to play!

Proceeds of this year's event benefitted the Delaware Public Policy Institute (DPPI), a nonpartisan, nonprofit organization, established to conduct research and encourage study and discussions of policies, programs and issues affecting Delaware and its citizens.

Next year, we'll be looking to improve on our 5 under par!

A Spotlight on Mental Health

PSCI utilizes the services of Creative Benefits to assist with the intricacies of benefits administration. In January 2020, they announced a 12-part Mental Health Campaign to increase mental health awareness and provide mental health education.

We will be utilizing this space to deliver those campaigns to you!
