Our client is seeking an experienced Adabas / Natural Software Developer for a long-term contract engagement. This position is expected to work a 37.5-hour work week and may be performed onsite or remotely.
Position Overview
This role will support mainframe applications, participating in the full application lifecycle, including analysis, design, development, testing, and ongoing support. The developer will work closely with multiple departments to troubleshoot issues and implement system improvements.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze, design, implement, and support existing mainframe applications
- Write new code and modify existing code to meet technical and functional requirements
- Troubleshoot defects and perform system and user acceptance testing
- Maintain applications to ensure performance aligns with specifications
- Collaborate with stakeholders to resolve system issues
- Evaluate and recommend system upgrades, enhancements, and development tools
- Participate in product design reviews to confirm quality and compliance standards
- Provide documentation, including technical documentation, user manuals, and status updates
- Deliver on-site or remote support as needed, including occasional after-hours corrective work
Required Skills & Experience
- NATURAL Software Development – minimum 5 years
- ADABAS database development – minimum 5 years
- Experience with:
- TSO
- JCL
- FTP
- COBOL
- Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Experience preparing technical documentation
- Ability to work independently and within a team environment
Preferred Skills
- SQL Server database experience
