Director, IT Business Partner Pharmacovigilance, Biostatistics, and Clinical Data

Location: Wilmington, DE (Hybrid, 3 days on site)

About the Position

The Director, IT Business Partner for Pharmacovigilance, Biostatistics, and Clinical Data will lead the technology strategy and service delivery that supports these key R&D functions.

This role serves as the primary link between the business and IT at the executive and operating levels. The position is embedded within the assigned functions to understand priorities, represent technology needs, and guide the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of business solutions. The Director will act as a strategic advisor and thought leader in the application of technology to enhance scientific, clinical, and safety outcomes.


Requirements

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Life Sciences, or related field. Advanced degree preferred.
  2. 10 or more years of IT and business experience supporting R&D functions in a pharmaceutical or life sciences environment.
  3. Proven experience supporting one or more of the following areas: Pharmacovigilance systems and workflows, Clinical Data Management platforms, Statistical computing environments, or Clinical trial data lifecycle.
  4. Strong understanding of business processes, regulatory expectations, and data requirements across the clinical development continuum.
  5. Demonstrated ability to develop technology strategy and translate business needs into actionable plans.
  6. History of leading system implementations, enhancements, and operational support teams with measurable execution success.
  7. Excellent communication skills and ability to interact effectively with scientific and clinical stakeholders as well as technical teams.
  8. Ability to build strong, trusted relationships at all levels of an organization.

Responsibilities

  1. Lead technology strategy planning and roadmap development for Pharmacovigilance, Biostatistics, and Clinical Data functions.
  2. Plan and direct the design, deployment, maintenance, and support of systems and data platforms that enable clinical and safety operations.
  3. Act as the primary liaison between business leadership, IT teams, external vendors, and implementation partners to ensure seamless service delivery.
  4. Collaborate with business stakeholders to identify opportunities to improve efficiency, data quality, analytics capabilities, and compliance through technology.
  5. Support vendor evaluation, solution selection, contract negotiations, and ongoing third-party management.
  6. Ensure systems comply with regulatory, data integrity, and audit standards common to GxP, PV, and clinical development environments.
  7. Establish governance mechanisms to ensure secure, reliable, and consistent system operations.
  8. Develop and track key operational metrics, service levels, and performance outcomes.
  9. Manage and mentor direct reports or matrixed team members as business needs evolve.
  10. Participate in annual strategic planning and budgeting processes for assigned business areas.
  11. Conduct research and maintain awareness of emerging technologies, data platforms, and analytics capabilities relevant to clinical development and drug safety.
