We are seeking a motivated Product Specialist 1 to join a technology apprenticeship style program focused on developing foundational IT skills through hands on experience and structured training. This entry level opportunity provides exposure to multiple technology disciplines including technical support, software development, networking, cybersecurity, and database administration.
The role is designed for individuals looking to build a career in information technology while working alongside experienced IT professionals in a collaborative environment.
Key Responsibilities
• Work alongside IT professionals across multiple technical teams including cybersecurity, networking, database administration, and software development
• Assist with designing, developing, testing, and deploying software and technical solutions
• Write clean, well documented, and maintainable code following established development best practices
• Participate in Agile development activities such as stand ups, sprint reviews, and retrospective meetings
• Follow established security protocols and IT policies to protect sensitive systems and data
• Troubleshoot and debug technical issues while identifying root causes and implementing solutions
• Assist in the creation and maintenance of technical documentation such as user guides, design documentation, and knowledge base articles
• Learn and apply fundamental data structures and algorithms to practical technical challenges
• Participate in code reviews and collaborate with team members to improve code quality
• Assist IT staff with technical support, system troubleshooting, and maintenance of hardware and software systems
• Engage with mentors and team members to support a collaborative and learning focused environment
• Continuously develop technical skills and adapt to new tools, technologies, and programming languages
Required Qualifications
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Basic understanding of computer systems, networking concepts, and common software applications
• Strong problem solving skills and eagerness to learn new technologies
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with a customer service mindset
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment
• Valid driver’s license may be required for travel between work locations
• Ability to successfully pass a comprehensive background check
Preferred Qualifications
• Associate degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field, or currently pursuing one
• Relevant entry level IT certifications
• Basic understanding of software development concepts such as branching, pull requests, and code reviews
• Familiarity with programming languages such as Java, Python, C#, or JavaScript
• Understanding of database concepts and SQL
• Exposure to web development technologies such as HTML, CSS, or React
• Familiarity with version control systems such as Git or GitHub
• Understanding of the software development lifecycle
Work Environment
This position is performed onsite in an office environment and may occasionally require travel between facilities. The role may involve lifting and moving computer equipment up to 50 pounds.
