About the Role
We are looking for a seasoned technology leader to oversee the day-to-day reliability and performance of a large enterprise application ecosystem. This position will define and execute an application operations strategy, lead a high-performing team, and partner with service providers to ensure mission-critical systems remain stable, secure, and efficient.
Key Responsibilities
- Define and drive the overall Application Operations strategy aligned with business and technology goals.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of Directors responsible for application reliability and operations.
- Oversee managed service providers, ensuring strong governance, SLA attainment, and vendor accountability.
- Maintain the health, availability, and performance of a broad portfolio of enterprise applications across multiple business domains.
- Advance incident, problem, change, and release management processes with root-cause analysis and preventive actions.
- Act as the senior escalation point for business-critical application issues.
- Collaborate with engineering and architecture teams to ensure new systems are operationally ready.
- Promote Site Reliability Engineering practices, including automation, observability, and proactive monitoring.
- Leverage automation and AIOps to improve efficiency, predictive alerting, and self-healing capabilities.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation, runbooks, and knowledge bases.
- Foster strong relationships with business stakeholders to align services with organizational needs.
- Use data-driven insights, operational dashboards, and KPIs to drive continuous improvement.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory, security, and audit requirements.
- Partner with security, procurement, and finance teams to optimize service quality, cost, and risk management.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
- 15+ years of progressive IT leadership, including 7+ years in application operations, service delivery, or reliability engineering.
- Proven experience managing enterprise applications across multiple functional areas.
- Strong record of success leading managed service providers or outsourced operations with accountability for SLAs and vendor performance.
- Hands-on expertise with ITIL v4, ITSM, DevOps, and Site Reliability Engineering practices.
- Deep understanding of compliance frameworks (e.g., SOX, PCI, GDPR) and security best practices.
- Experience supporting large-scale, mission-critical systems such as ERP, warehouse management, e-commerce, mobile, and point-of-sale platforms.
- Solid knowledge of project management principles and change management in technology organizations.
- Ability to analyze user feedback and implement continuous improvements.
