Technical Systems Analyst

Job Description: The candidate will have hands-on experience with MAVEN and will serve as a technical liaison between public health programs and information systems, with a strong emphasis on application configuration and Java-based development. This role is responsible for translating business and public health requirements into functional system solutions; configuring and enhancing complex applications (such as disease surveillance or case management systems); and writing, modifying, and troubleshooting Java code and SQL to support system functionality, data quality, and integrations. The Systems Analyst partners closely with program staff, epidemiologists, IT teams, and vendors to design, test, implement, and maintain system enhancements that support public health operations and reporting.

Key Responsibilities

• Configure and maintain MAVEN workflows, forms, business rules, notifications and MMGs.

• Conduct gap analysis between program workflows and MAVEN functionality

• Translate public health program requirements into technical MAVEN solutions

• Perform SQL queries for data validation, troubleshooting, and reporting

• Support testing, UAT, and production deployments

• Collaborate with epidemiologists, program staff, to Translate program requirements into MAVEN configuration

• Collaborate with programmers, IT, and external vendors

• Document system configurations, decisions, and changes

• Support onboarding, training, and user issue resolution

Required Qualifications

• Systems analysis experience in complex applications

• Demonstrated experience working directly with MAVEN

• Experience with system configuration and rule-based logic

• Ability to read, write, and modify Java code

• Strong SQL skills

• Background in public health surveillance or informatics

• Ability to work across technical and non-technical stakeholders

Preferred

• Experience with ELR, HL7, MMGs

• Prior work in a state or local health department

• Experience supporting modernization or system enhancements in MAVEN

Required skill

Experience with MAVEN at least 1 year.
