5 Ways to Boost Your Career During the Summer

With summer comes longer days, warmer weather, and more time spent away from the office. While using this time to relax can help you to recharge your batteries, it can also be used to propel your career. In this blog post, we share 5 tips on how to boost your career during the summer months. Read the blog>>

To Include, or Not to Include, That is the Question
Candidates including a photograph of themselves on their resume is a recent trend we've been noticing in the IT industry. While a photo may be needed or even required in certain professions, they are decidedly not so in information technology. In this post, we review the reasons for not including a photo on your resume. Read the blog>>

Tammy Shelton
This month we proudly shine the spotlight on Tammy Shelton!

Tammy joined our team in September as a Sr. Project Manager and was brought on to help assist our client, the Delaware Department of Technology & Information, with their broadband expansion project.

She has since been promoted to Program Manager!

Let's take a moment to learn more about her in this month's Fast Five.
1. What was your first paying job?
Mucking horse stalls and stacking hay at a horse farm.

2. Favorite weekend hobby?
Grilling for friends. Brunch with the "lazy daisies," a girl posse who have loved and supported one another through all transitions of life. Mostly, we lay by the pool, thus our moniker, lazy daisies.

3. What was your favorite TV show when growing up?
That is easy, Batman. I loved Adam West.
4. If you could go anywhere in the world on vacation, where would you go?
I thought these questions would be easy. North! To Alaska or any National Park in the USA. I am going to be a rebel and put a second choice. To the Tuscany region of Italy to cook and prepare food. Living vicariously through Stanley Tucci's CNN series.

5. What separates PSCI from other consulting firms you've worked with?
I have worked with consulting firms in the past and I will say PSCI cares about the customer and contractor. They make sure it is a good fit.

In case you missed them, check out these recent top reads from publications across the industry.

Baby Isla

At PSCI, we genuinely care about our consultants as well as their family's well-being.

On Tuesday, June 7, longtime consultant, Julianne Solum, welcomed into the world her youngest daughter, Isla Solum.

Unfortunately, however, due to being breeched and having to be delivered via an emergency c-section, Isla was born not breathing.

Though doctors were able to quickly resuscitate her, the initial lack of oxygen has caused damage to her brain and other internal organs.

Because of this, she will need to spend an indeterminate amount of time in the NICU at Christiana Hospital where she will be treated for Newborn Hypoxic Ischemic Encephalopathy.

The coming weeks are going to be a challenge, so to help ease the burden a GoFundMe has been established to help Julianne and her family pay for the upcoming medical bills and other associated costs.

If you would like to contribute, donations are being accepted on baby Isla's GoFundMe page.

We wish the Solum family nothing but the best and pray for a speedy recovery for baby Isla!

A Spotlight on Mental Health

PSCI utilizes the services of Creative Benefits to assist with the intricacies of benefits administration. As part of their outreach, they've put forth a Mental Health Campaign to increase mental health awareness and provide mental health education.
