Solutions Architect – AI

Position Summary

Our client is seeking an experienced Solutions Architect – AI to lead the design and implementation of enterprise AI solutions across a complex, large-scale business environment.

This individual will serve as both a hands-on technical architect and strategic AI leader, helping identify high-value use cases, establish scalable architecture standards, evaluate emerging technologies, and move AI solutions from concept through production.

Responsibilities

  • Define enterprise architecture, standards, and reusable patterns for AI, machine learning, and Generative AI solutions.
  • Translate business requirements into scalable, secure, and production-ready AI architectures.
  • Partner with business, product, engineering, data, and technology teams to identify and prioritize AI opportunities.
  • Architect end-to-end AI solutions covering data ingestion, model development, inference, integration, and production deployment.
  • Design solutions utilizing Generative AI, LLMs, RAG, vector search, tool calling, and agentic workflows.
  • Evaluate and implement open-source AI and machine learning technologies.
  • Provide hands-on technical guidance, including reference architectures, pipelines, schemas, and development patterns.
  • Establish MLOps practices including CI/CD, model monitoring, automated retraining, drift detection, and cost management.
  • Develop AI observability standards covering model performance, data quality, system health, latency, and production feedback loops.
  • Establish security and governance standards for enterprise AI solutions.
  • Address AI-specific risks including prompt injection, adversarial attacks, data poisoning, model security, and privacy concerns.
  • Evaluate emerging AI technologies and determine how they can be integrated into existing enterprise applications and platforms.
  • Lead build vs. buy vs. open-source evaluations for AI capabilities.
  • Help establish and mature enterprise AI governance and Center of Excellence capabilities.
  • Partner with technical teams to ensure AI architectures are practical, scalable, secure, and executable.
  • Help teams adopt AI technologies and productivity tools safely and effectively.

Required Qualifications

  • 9+ years of experience in software engineering, data engineering, AI, machine learning, or related technology disciplines.
  • 5+ years of experience in AI/ML architecture or a comparable technical leadership role.
  • Proven experience designing and delivering production AI solutions within retail, e-commerce, supply chain, or a large consumer-facing environment.
  • Strong hands-on experience with open-source AI and machine learning frameworks.
  • Strong proficiency with Python and modern machine learning frameworks.
  • Experience with Generative AI, LLMs, RAG architectures, vector search, and agentic AI technologies.
  • Experience with modern enterprise data architectures including lakehouse, streaming, and batch-processing environments.
  • Experience with enterprise cloud and data platforms.
  • Demonstrated experience with MLOps, model monitoring, drift detection, and production AI observability.
  • Understanding of AI security, governance, privacy, and responsible AI practices.
  • Experience evaluating and integrating emerging AI technologies into existing enterprise environments.
  • Ability to operate as both a hands-on technical builder and enterprise-level architect.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively with both technical and business stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience helping establish or scale an enterprise AI Center of Excellence.
  • Direct experience within a retail or large consumer-facing organization.
  • Experience with AI red-teaming, adversarial testing, or AI risk assessment.
  • Experience contributing to or implementing open-source AI technologies.
  • Relevant cloud, AI, or machine learning certifications.
