Data Center Migration Infrastructure & Application

Professional IT Programers

When one of the nation’s largest oil refineries needed to migrate its infrastructure to a new hybrid environment, PSCI was there to help.

One of the nation’s largest oil refineries was undergoing a major transition following its acquisition by a new parent company. As part of the divestiture, the refinery was required to separate and migrate all IT infrastructure from the previous owner’s environment to a newly designed, independent hybrid infrastructure, combining both offsite cloud services and an onsite data center.

Challenge

The client faced a complex and time-sensitive challenge: to build and implement a fully functional IT environment from the ground up. The project required not only infrastructure separation but also full application migration, user support continuity, and minimal disruption to daily operations, while meeting strict deadlines set by the terms of the sale.

PSCI’s Solution

PSCI was selected as the strategic IT partner to lead the migration effort. We assembled a full-scale technical team composed of:

  • Project Managers to oversee the migration timeline, coordinate resources, and ensure alignment with the client’s business objectives

  • Senior Systems Engineers and Architects to design and implement the new hybrid infrastructure

  • Desktop Deployment Specialists to manage end-user technology needs and device readiness

  • Application Specialists to lead the migration of business-critical software to the new platform

  • Help Desk Support Staff to provide ongoing assistance to users during and after the transition

Throughout the project, PSCI worked closely with refinery leadership and IT stakeholders to ensure transparency, adaptability, and alignment with operational priorities.

Execution and Results

The PSCI team executed the migration in carefully staged phases to reduce risk and limit downtime. All core applications were successfully transferred to the new platform, enabling rapid cutover and immediate user access to necessary systems and data.

To further support the transition, PSCI augmented the client’s internal help desk staff, ensuring that employees across the organization received timely support and training as they adjusted to the new environment.

The entire infrastructure migration was completed on time and with minimal disruption to refinery operations. The project’s success was further underscored by its financial impact: the new environment reduced IT operating costs by an estimated $500,000 per month, delivering substantial and ongoing savings to the client.
