Job Title: Director, Pharmacovigilance Business Relationship

Position Summary

Our client is seeking a Director, Pharmacovigilance Business Relationship to serve as a key link between the Pharmacovigilance organization and IT.

This individual will partner closely with business and technology leaders to understand business needs, develop technology strategies, and oversee the implementation, enhancement, and support of systems supporting Pharmacovigilance operations.

The ideal candidate will have deep experience within pharmaceutical or life sciences environments, strong knowledge of Pharmacovigilance processes and systems, and hands-on experience with platforms such as Veeva Safety, Oracle Argus, or similar safety solutions.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary technology relationship partner between Pharmacovigilance, IT, and external solution providers.
• Understand Pharmacovigilance business objectives, processes, challenges, and technology needs.
• Develop and manage technology strategies, roadmaps, and solution portfolios supporting Pharmacovigilance operations.
• Plan and direct the design, implementation, enhancement, maintenance, and support of Pharmacovigilance systems.
• Lead and project manage major technology initiatives within the Pharmacovigilance organization.
• Coordinate with IT teams, business stakeholders, and third-party vendors to deliver reliable and effective technology solutions.
• Serve as a key liaison across business units, IT functions, and external partners.
• Partner with business leadership to deliver strategic systems solutions in a cost-effective and scalable manner.
• Manage project resources, timelines, priorities, and support objectives.
• Perform business and technical analysis and develop recommendations, strategies, and business plans.
• Evaluate new technologies and solutions that may improve Pharmacovigilance operations.
• Develop solution frameworks and implementation strategies to support successful technology adoption.
• Oversee the rollout and ongoing optimization of technology solutions.
• Define, monitor, and report metrics related to system performance, support, and operational effectiveness.
• Ensure solutions align with enterprise architecture, security, compliance, and technology standards.
• Participate in strategic planning, budgeting, and technology investment decisions.
• Manage and develop IT team members where applicable.
• Continuously evaluate current systems and identify opportunities for improvement.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and professional experience.
• 10+ years of combined IT, business, or industry experience.
• Significant experience within pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or related life sciences environments.
• Deep understanding of Pharmacovigilance business processes, systems, and technology requirements.
• Strong experience serving as an IT subject matter expert within Pharmacovigilance or drug safety.
• Experience leading technology projects within validated or regulated environments.
• Strong knowledge of business processes, operational models, and technology requirements within Pharmacovigilance.
• Hands-on experience implementing or supporting Veeva Safety, Oracle Argus, or comparable safety management platforms.
• Strong project and program management experience.
• Experience managing relationships with third-party technology vendors and solution providers.
• Ability to develop technology strategies, roadmaps, and business cases.
• Strong analytical, strategic planning, and problem-solving skills.
• Demonstrated ability to lead complex technology initiatives and drive operational execution.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate with both business and technical audiences.
• Strong relationship-building and stakeholder management skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience managing or developing technology teams.
• Experience with enterprise Pharmacovigilance system implementations, upgrades, or migrations.
• Experience supporting global Pharmacovigilance operations.
• Familiarity with regulatory, compliance, and validation requirements within pharmaceutical technology environments.
• Experience participating in technology budgeting and strategic planning.
