Location/Work Arrangement: Hybrid, up to 3 days per week onsite

Position Summary

Our client is seeking a skilled and motivated Security Operations Center (SOC) Analyst to join its cybersecurity team. This individual will be responsible for monitoring and analyzing security threats in real time, identifying vulnerabilities, investigating suspicious activity, and responding to security incidents.

This role requires strong technical skills, excellent analytical abilities, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor network traffic, system logs, endpoints, and security tools for suspicious or unusual activity.
  • Identify, investigate, categorize, and respond to security incidents, including malware, data breaches, unauthorized access, and insider threats.
  • Triage security alerts, assess severity, and prioritize response activities.
  • Conduct proactive threat hunting across SIEM and EDR platforms.
  • Analyze logs from firewalls, IDS/IPS, antivirus tools, endpoints, and other systems to identify patterns and anomalies.
  • Operate and support security technologies including SIEM, IDS/IPS, firewalls, PKI, antivirus, and endpoint security solutions.
  • Assist with incident containment, mitigation, remediation, and documentation.
  • Stay current on emerging cybersecurity threats, vulnerabilities, and attack techniques.
  • Maintain accurate records of security incidents and support compliance requirements.
  • Collaborate with cybersecurity, infrastructure, networking, and other IT teams to investigate and resolve security issues.
  • Contribute to improving security monitoring processes, detection rules, and prevention strategies.
  • Use scripting and automation where appropriate to improve security operations.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related field.
  • 2+ years of experience in a cybersecurity, information security, SOC, or related security role.
  • Strong understanding of operating systems, network protocols, and cybersecurity fundamentals.
  • Hands-on experience with SIEM systems and security monitoring tools.
  • Experience with IDS/IPS, firewalls, antivirus, and endpoint detection tools.
  • Experience investigating and responding to security incidents.
  • Strong log analysis skills with the ability to identify suspicious patterns and anomalies.
  • Understanding of common cyberattack techniques, threat intelligence, and attacker tactics.
  • Working knowledge of Python, PowerShell, or similar scripting technologies.
  • Basic understanding of computer forensics and incident investigation.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to adapt quickly to evolving threats and priorities.

Preferred Qualifications

  • CompTIA Security+ or equivalent cybersecurity certification.
  • Experience with proactive threat hunting.
  • Experience developing or improving security detection and prevention rules.
