Job Description
Our client is seeking an experienced Programmer IV to support the development, enhancement, and maintenance of mission-critical Motor Vehicle applications. This long-term contract opportunity is ideal for a seasoned mainframe developer who enjoys working across the full software development lifecycle, from analysis and design through implementation, testing, and ongoing production support. You'll collaborate with technical teams and business stakeholders to modernize and maintain enterprise applications while helping ensure the reliability of systems that support essential public services.
Responsibilities
- Analyze, develop, enhance, and maintain enterprise mainframe applications.
- Design, code, test, debug, and implement application enhancements.
- Troubleshoot production issues and resolve software defects.
- Collaborate with business users and technical teams to gather requirements and deliver solutions.
- Perform system testing, user acceptance testing, and production support.
- Evaluate and recommend application improvements and development tools.
- Create and maintain technical documentation, user guides, and project status updates.
- Provide occasional after-hours support for critical production issues.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of NATURAL software development experience.
- 5+ years of ADABAS database development experience.
- Experience with:
- TSO
- JCL
- COBOL
- FTP
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
- Experience creating technical documentation.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- SQL Server experience.
- Experience supporting enterprise-scale government or public sector applications.
- Experience working with legacy mainframe modernization or maintenance projects.
